The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepares students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students. The programme, has gained recognition and respect from the world’s leading universities.

IB Learners

The Diploma Programme prepares students for effective participation in a rapidly evolving and increasingly global society as they:

  • Develop physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically
  • Acquire breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding, studying courses from 6 subject groups
  • Develop the skills and a positive attitude towards learning that will prepare them for higher education
  • Study at least two languages and increase understanding of cultures, including their own
  • Make connections across traditional academic disciplines and explore the nature of knowledge through the programme’s unique Theory of Knowledge course
  • undertake in-depth research into an area of interest through the lens of one or more academic disciplines in the Extended Essay
  • enhance their personal and interpersonal development through Creativity, Action and Service

  • IB, a nonprofit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland offers a high quality continuum of education from Kindergarten to Pre University Diploma
  • A group of talented, forward thinking teachers at the International School of Geneva, with assistance from several other international schools, created the IB Diploma Programme.
  • IB programme is recognized around the world and ensure an increased adaptability and mobility for IB students.
  • The curriculum and pedagogy of IB programme focus on international perspectives of learning and teaching, while insisting that students fully explore their home culture and language.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop a challenging programme of international education and rigorous assessment.

This programme encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

IB Learner Profile

The IB learner profile is the IB mission statement translated into a set of learning outcomes for the 21 century. The learner profile provides a long-term vision of education. It is a set of ideals that can inspire, motivate and focus the work of schools and teachers, uniting them for a common purpose.

The aim of the IB Programme is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

IB learners strive to be

  • Inquirers:- They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.
  • Knowledgeable:- They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines.
  • Thinkers:- They exercise initiative in applying thinking skills critically and creatively to recognize and approach complex problems, and make reasoned, ethical decisions.
  • Communicators:- They understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively in more than one language and in a variety of modes of communication. They work effectively and willingly in collaboration with others.
